The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) rallied together last Tuesday in protest of the lack of hirings for graduates, contradicting the current nurse shortage.

With nurses working excessive numbers of hours, they often suffer from burnout. In 2024, the Department of Health predicted that almost 80,000 nurses will be needed by 2035; however, with thousands of graduates not getting hired, they’ll be forced to search for other careers which will only worsen the current shortage of nurses.

These graduates have dedicated the past several years of their lives qualifying themselves for the field only to be promised jobs that didn’t exist.
